SCM Direct was born out of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis and the Founders’ desire to improve investor outcomes, challenge complacent investment thinking, and respect clients by being honest, ethical, and transparent. We offer investors low-cost access to high-end wealth management without layers of inefficiencies, intermediaries, and hidden fees.

Alan has a contrarian mind-set and principled approach to managing money. This led him to believe that after the financial crisis of 2008, there needed to be a radically different investment approach and strategy to looking after clients’ money. Therefore, he launched SCM Direct in 2009.
Alan’s innovative and visionary investment approach saw him launch the first UK equity long/short hedge fund in 1997. This compounded at 17.2% p.a. compared to the FTSE All-Share Index return of 4.0%, over the 9.5 years Alan managed the hedge fund.
Alan previously managed the Jupiter Investment Trust. This became the New Star Investment Trust – from its inception in May 2000 to the end of June 2006. During this period, the net asset value per share rose by 47.5% against a 0.2% fall in the FTSE All-Share Index.
Along with Gina, Alan launched the True and Fair Campaign in 2012. This has achieved reforms in the transparency of costs and charges, closet index tracking, hidden fees, fund labelling, investment and holdings transparency, regulatory failings and dubious behaviour and greenwashing in ESG investing. Their work has vastly improved consumer protections and outcomes for investors, not just in the UK but across the EU. Three EU Directives – Article 24 of MiFID II, PRIPS and The Shareholder Directive all include text as a result of their campaigning.
Charles brings over four decades of experience in global fixed income markets, with a career spanning leading investment institutions including Bank of America, Paribas, and Cantor Fitzgerald.
As a seasoned credit markets expert, Charles has advised institutional clients, sovereign wealth funds, and family offices across Europe and the Middle East on portfolio construction, risk management, and bond market strategy. He has also led a team of portfolio managers serving high-net-worth individuals and family offices.
His approach combines macroeconomic insight with disciplined bottom-up analysis, leveraging expertise across government and corporate bonds, emerging markets, and structured products.
Charles joins SCM Direct’s Investment Committee as our dedicated Bond Specialist, contributing rigorous fixed income expertise to our long-term investment strategy. Fluent in English, French, and Arabic, he brings a truly international perspective to the team.
Gina Miller is a trailblazing businesswoman, activist, and social justice advocate. She has a passion for financial empowerment and gender equality.
Her journey in financial services began in 1996. This is when she founded SWAY; a highly respected specialist financial services marketing agency. Building on her success, Gina co-founded SCM Direct in 2009. SCM Direct is a pioneering online wealth management platform designed to make investment services traditionally reserved for high-net-worth individuals accessible to a broader audience.
In June 2020, Gina launched MoneyShe. MoneyShe is a financial literacy initiative dedicated to empowering everyone with the knowledge and tools to manage their finances, invest wisely, and secure their financial futures. Troubled by the gender investment and pension gap, Gina has committed herself to creating solutions that foster financial independence for everyone.
As a survivor of domestic violence, Gina is deeply driven to ensure that nobody is financially trapped in abusive relationships. With this mission in mind, she relaunched MoneyShe in partnership with Tim Campbell MBE in November 2024. This was to expand its scope; to offer discretionary investment portfolios alongside practical financial literacy resources.
With over 23 years of experience in the investment industry, Gina remains steadfast in her mission to empower everybody. She’s committed to bridging the gender wealth gap, and champion the right to financial independence for all.

Rochelle brings to SCM Direct over 15 years of experience in providing comprehensive client support. She has a strong knowledge of pensions and investment products. Rochelle is also well-versed in FCA compliance requirements, ensuring processes and documentation remain accurate and up to date.
She holds a NVQ in Business Administration and has been a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute since 2010.
Professional, approachable, and detail-oriented, Rochelle is known for her excellent communication skills and methodical approach. She ensures clients receive an efficient and seamless service.
Outside of work, Rochelle enjoys spending time with her 7-year-old daughter, going on long walks, and baking together.
Zoe joined SCM Direct in May 2023. She brings with her over 30 years of experience as an Executive Assistant, working in the Investment Banking sector in London.
Working alongside The Global Head of Healthcare Finance, her role was extremely demanding. It required attention to detail and multiple tasks. Above all, keeping calm and solving problems before they became a crisis was key. Zoe provides a mature and methodical approach to all aspects of her role when dealing with all client-facing, stakeholder, and partnership relationships.
Outside of work, Zoe is a keen gardener and animal lover. When she’s not snipping and pruning, she can be found taking long walks along the beach with her husband Matt, and dog, George.
